“Shir hammalos beshuv Hashem es shivas Tzion hayinu k’cholmim”\The salient quality of a dream is that in it on can experience a contradiction. This is because when one sleeps, the imagination (which can conceive of any possible combination of perceptual/conceptual phenomena) is not under the reign of the intellect  (which is constrained by certain systems, e.g. logic).Galus= a spiritual dream, in which one can experience Elokus at one moment (during davening) and then become immersed in his secular affairs, without even noticing the contradiction. There is not a problem with work per se, as long as it is directed towards the elevating of the mundane (see the previous Maamer). However, in our dream state, we forget this ultimate goal. However, one should not be troubled by this “dream state”. The origins of the state are in the level of Igullim, which is beyond the level the realm of systems by which we normally define and categorize things (Yosher/Sechel/Kav). In this space, that which in this world appears as a contradiction is not, in fact, a contradiction. This level can only be revealed in this world when Chochma/Elokus is not apparent, i.e. in Galus. When Moshiach comes, we will perceive the true origin of our dream state. ConceptsSechel vs. Koach HamidamehIggulim vs. YosherSupport the show (https://www.paypal.com/donate?hosted_button_id=SVCNKGSMCEANE)
  • “Shir hammalos beshuv Hashem es shivas Tzion hayinu k’cholmim”\
  • The salient quality of a dream is that in it on can experience a contradiction. This is because when one sleeps, the imagination (which can conceive of any possible combination of perceptual/conceptual phenomena) is not under the reign of the intellect  (which is constrained by certain systems, e.g. logic).
  • Galus= a spiritual dream, in which one can experience Elokus at one moment (during davening) and then become immersed in his secular affairs, without even noticing the contradiction. There is not a problem with work per se, as long as it is directed towards the elevating of the mundane (see the previous Maamer). However, in our dream state, we forget this ultimate goal.
  • However, one should not be troubled by this “dream state”. The origins of the state are in the level of Igullim, which is beyond the level the realm of systems by which we normally define and categorize things (Yosher/Sechel/Kav). In this space, that which in this world appears as a contradiction is not, in fact, a contradiction. This level can only be revealed in this world when Chochma/Elokus is not apparent, i.e. in Galus.
  • When Moshiach comes, we will perceive the true origin of our dream state.
